I started playing around with Google Calendar tonight. I just have to say WOW!
At first it had trouble loading, no doubt from heavy server load due to interest. Once loaded I was presented with a slick, if empty, calendar. Since I use Mozilla Calendar in Mozilla Thunderbird, I wondered if I could upload my Ical file. Sure enough, Google thought of that. After a couple of clicks, Google was showing me my calendar.
Everything looked great, except for one reoccuring appointment. While it should have been 4 hours one night a week, Google was showing it spread across two nights. After fixing the date/times of the event, google asked me if the change should apply to all the events in the series. Why yes, please do.
Great, but can I keep Google Calendar synched with Mozilla Calendar. Apparently, they thought of this too. They provide a special private URL allowing you to fetch a read-only copy in either XML or Ical formats. Yes, read-only. No updates via Mozilla Calendar at this point. Bummer.
One more thing I've noticed, it doesn't support event categories. This would be a nice-to-have feature.
